was first found in Mexico, but now is mainly
grown in the warm climates of Morocco, Hawii
(where it used to be leis), South Africa and India.
The Aztec harnessed the flower for anti-inflammatory
properties. And because it blooms at night, legends
arose in France and India that a whiff could put a
young woman in a romantic mood."

French couturier Robert Piguet wanted to create a fragrance
that would
celebrate the rebirth of Paris during the final days
of World War
II. He commissioned Germaine Cellier, France's
first female
perfumer, to create a scent that was feminine but modern. She
blended the unmistakable tuberose with classic
white flowers and
Parisian women were soon smitten.
In 1953, U.S. Department stores began selling the fragrance
and American women were equally enamored".
